BACKGROUND

Loudy was an elite gymnast for five years and spent three months with
the AIS Gymnastics Program in Canberra before deciding to try diving.

Although only 16 she was selected for the Atlanta Olympics where she
placed a creditable 19th.

In 1999 she began studying Economics at Macquarie University but
subsequently decided, in 2001, to embark on a course in Media &
Communications at University of Sydney.

Loudy regards the 2000 Olympic Games as an amazing experience.
With her synchronised diving partner Rebecca Gilmore, she won a
bronze medal on the 10m platform event.  They were the first
Olympic diving medallists, since 1924. Four years later at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Loudy won her first individual Olympic medal, with a bronze in the Women's 10 Metre Platform event.

In 2003 Loudy became the first diver to win gold at each
of the CAN-AM-MEX FINA Diving Grand Prix series when
she won the 10 metre platform and the 10 metre synchro
in Canada, America and Mexico.

She was named female diver of the USA Grand Prix meet.

Loudy was also named 2003 Sydney University Sports Woman
of the Year and also won the Magpie Wests Ashfield Award.

When not at the pool Loudy enjoys music, driving and the beach
and she also admits to having the ability to write.
