FINA Judges School in Brisbane

Friday, 20 November 2009

Long standing FINA Diving technical committee member, Kathy Seaman (right), will lead a three day Judges School in Brisbane over the weekend in tandem with the Down Under Classic diving competition.  Newly appointed FINA technical committee member Anne Sissons (left) from New Zealand will be assisting.

Fifteen officials from Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Queensland are attending along with one representative from New Zealand. The school also welcomes newcomer to judging, Silver Medallist Mathew Helm, who is currently undertaking a scholarship coach program through the Australian Sports Commission.

The school will commence with theory sessions including such topics as philosophy and the requirements for good judging, duties of the referee and judging Synchro.

The final two days will be taken up with practical judging with extensive feedback being provided to the participating officials. Judges will go through an assessment process with the opportunity to be added to the FINA judges list.
